In order to become fiscally conservative one of the largest expenditures that must be cut is defense spending. Currently the United States spends six times more money on the defense budget than any other country in the world. While it is important to remain superior in the world militarily, it is possible to do so by reducing military bases currently situated around the world. While this would reduce America's prescience around the world, but with less bases, and more responsible spending militarily, the United States would have to use diplomacy, instead of diplomacy by force. One of the other ways to cut defense spending is purchase products needed by the military instead of congress purchasing military equipment because it creates jobs in their district but the military also stated that those products are redundant or will not be used. By cutting bases and unnecessary equipment the United States could cut one sixth of defense spending. While cutting defense spending itself wouldn't save America from financial ruin, it is a start that simple steps could put us on the right path.
